Laser Tattoo Removal

Spectrum Laser Aesthetics uses the latest, most advanced laser technology to help patients achieve their desired look and regain control of their skin and ink.

How Does it Work?

Laser tattoo removal speeds up the natural fading process by breaking up the large ink particles into smaller fragments that your immune system can remove.

Technology

Tattoo Removal Technology

Tattoos have been around for centuries and are one of the most popular forms of self-expression. And while most tattooed individuals love their ink, a large percentage experience tattoo regret or eventually have a change of mind when it comes to their permanent body art. Laser tattoo removal is the safest, most effective method for removing unwanted ink and lightening existing tattoos for cover-ups.

Aftercare

Tattoo Removal Aftercare

Laser tattoo removal is a very simple procedure, however, proper aftercare is crucial for the best results. Spectrum Laser Aesthetics uses the latest technology and safest protocols to ensure your skin receives the best treatment. We ask that you provide the same level of care for your skin at home as we would in our clinic. Not only does proper aftercare produce great results, but it also prevents infection and unwanted complications from arising.

Before & After

Tattoo Removal Before & After

The process of laser tattoo removal typically requires a series of treatments for complete removal. You will see the gradual breaking up and fading of the tattoo ink throughout the removal process. If you are looking to have a current tattoo covered up by a new tattoo then your tattoo artist may recommend a minimal amount of laser tattoo removal treatments to lighten the current tattoo so that it can be covered easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does laser tattoo removal work?
During the procedure, our Trinity laser safely emits light energy into the skin and targets unwanted ink particles. The ink particles absorb the light energy, heat up and shatter into tiny fragments. These fragmented particles are consumed and naturally disposed of by your immune system. For a more detailed explanation, visit our laser tattoo removal page.
How many treatments will I need?
Various factors are used to determine the number of treatments you and your unique tattoo will need. Most tattoos require a minimum of 5 to 10 treatments before seeing complete removal. Patients interested in lightening their tattoo for a cover-up may require as little as 3 to 4 treatments. Spectrum Laser Aesthetics provides free consultations to all patients in order to assess your tattoo in person and figure out the total number of treatments you will need to achieve your desired look. Here are a few factors we use to best estimate your treatment plan:

  • Age of tattoo
  • Location of tattoo
  • Size of tattoo
  • Patient skin type
  • Tattoo colors
  • Ink density
  • Ink depth
  • Type of tattoo (professional ink vs. amateur ink)
  • Patient health
  • Pre-existing scarring
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Every patient reacts differently to treatment, but most have compared the laser sensation to that of a rubber band snapping against their skin at a rapid pace. Spectrum Laser Aesthetics uses the Zimmer Cryo 6 cooling machine to completely numb the skin before, DURING, and after treatments. This cooling device minimizes pain and alleviates the skin throughout the entirety of your laser session. Furthermore, laser tattoo removal is a very quick procedure that lasts anywhere from a few seconds to 15 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. Our laser technicians will do all they can to make your treatment as comfortable as possible.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Initial consultations at Spectrum Laser Aesthetics are always free. During your consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo and skin type, determine the number of treatments you will need, and provide a customized pricing quote. The cost per treatment is determined by the size of the tattoo(s) being treated. We also offer a variety of treatment packages and special discounts to help save you more. Visit our laser tattoo removal pricing page for more details.
Are there any risks or side effects to laser tattoo removal?
Laser tattoo removal at Spectrum Laser Aesthetics is extremely safe and effective. All of our certified laser technicians use customized protocols for your skin type to ensure you receive the best treatment and results. The side effects of laser tattoo removal are very few and infections are rare. Following treatment, patients may experience temporary blistering, scabbing, redness, swelling, itchiness, and hypo- or hyperpigmentation. To avoid serious infection and unwanted side effects, it’s important to follow proper aftercare instructions and care for your skin outside of our practice.
Can you treat colorful ink and darker skin types?
Some tattoo removal providers claim it is unsafe or not possible to treat patients with colorful tattoos and darker skin types. Their answer relies heavily on the technology that they use. While other lasers cannot effectively treat multi-colored tattoos or dark skin types, our Astanza Trinity laser can! Our laser supports three wavelengths, specifically a ruby wavelength, and is able to treat ALL tattoos, including bright green and blue inks that other laser clinics cannot. Furthermore, our Trinity laser uses a special flat top homogenized beam that reduces the risk of treatment overlap and unwanted skin pigmentation changes. This feature allows for safer energy application and optimal results for all skin types, even darker skin tones.
I heard laser tattoo removal is good for cover-up tattoos. Can you lighten my existing tattoo?
Spectrum Laser Aesthetics delivers solutions for every patient need. Whether you want to completely remove your tattoo, remove a specific portion of your tattoo while leaving the rest untouched, or lighten your existing tattoo to prepare for a cover-up piece, we can deliver! Many individuals often have to sacrifice or alter their desired cover-up tattoo with a larger, darker piece in order to completely conceal their existing artwork. With laser tattoo removal, you don’t have to compromise anything! Laser tattoo removal creates a lighter canvas for your artist to work on, allowing them to incorporate more colors and be more creative with their design.
